basic Light Set Ups

Butterfly:The light is higher and its brighten ups the face and the shadows go underneath the chin, but the enfaces on the face and not the body. Also use a reflector brightens up the face also giving a soft look.

Loop:  You have a key light and fill light on both sides of the face, made by creating a soft shadow on the nose and their checks, Requires at least two lights

Rembrandt:  It puts light and shadow on the face, Use to Create a sense of mystery, Drama. You can use this in just one key light, but its helpful to you a fill light so its not two-face.

Split: The key light is moved farther on the side of the subject or slightly behind the subject depending on the angle of the subject.Split CreatesTwo-faced splitting the face with light on one side and shadow on the other. You will use this in dramatic, musician, magazines, shows two different personalities.

Broad and Short: The right side (broad) is lightAnd the left (short) is dim.  this type of lighting can make the subject seem wider.Probably not used when someone already has a wider face. One light is used but a second light softens the shadow.

Butterfly:Brightens up the face with now shadows.
Key light (main light):Brightens up the eyes nose checks and lips
Hair Light: a light places slightly behind the model to add highlights and separate the subject and the background
Background Light: is used to separate the model and the background so the model stands out more.
